Abstract
The natural recreational forest of Jeolmul in the middle of eastern suburbs of Jeju downtown had the phytoncide concentration of 1,011 to 1,087 pptv for the walking path of cyprus tree which came to Samwoolgil, Jangsangy, and Gusangnamugil. Gomsolgil showed 633 pptv, and Sangysorigil, Julmuloerumgil, and Jangsaengysupgil which is made deciduous trees showed 290~513 pptv, indicating that cyprus tree area has at least 1.5 times more than the deciduous tree. During the summer time in the walking path made of cyprus tree (Cryptomeria japonica) and Abies koreana, phytoncide concentration maximized to 1,500 pptv, followed by fall, spring, and winter. In particular, the area of cyprus and abies was rich in sabinene and limonene which is good for the patients with asthma and/or atopy. For the day, they came to a peak both between 12 to 14 o'clock and around 6 o'clock in the morning. The natural recreational forest of Jeolmul is abundant in sabinene from Cryptomeria japonica, limonene from Abies koreana, and pinene from pine tree.
